The Danube
2008
My first photographic project was a rather complicated one, since it happened in 2008, when I was far from having all the current knowledge to help me develop such an endeavour. A photographic trip along the entire river, from the springs in the Black Forest in Germany to the shores of the Black Sea in Romania, had never been done before in my country, so it seemed like a wonderful idea. A car that was both our kitchen and bedroom, an inflatable boat, two fishing rods that we never used, photo cameras and a bunch of accessories, a laptop and a variety of car chargers, were all the equipment we needed to be totally independent for three weeks.
We walked along the banks of the river through eight countries, crossed tens of villages and cities, visited four capitals, rowed on various lakes and canals, to discover the story of the Danube. It was a wonderful experience and a project that laid the foundations for the much bigger ones that followed.

The whole experience was presented in a photography exhibition with 50 images and a slideshow, presented in many cities in Romania, or during some special photographic events.
This project introduced me to the Danube Delta, an absolutely fabulous place that I fell irreparably in love with. From 2008, I have returned every year to the Delta, sometimes even more than once. This amazing place inspired me to start a new project involving a documentary film and a photo book that can showcase the beauty of the landscape and the stories of the wildlife from the biggest wetland in Europe.
